How to Lose Weight

Unfortunately, there’s no magic pill that will mysteriously evaporate excess fat as we sleep. The reality is that the healthiest and best way to lose weight, and also keep it off, is to simply limit caloric intake while increasing physical activity. Of course, the logistics can be a bit more involved than that, so here are some helpful tips on how to lose weight the right way, through diet and exercise.

Dieting tips

Avoid becoming bored with the foods that you eat while modifying your diet. Look for ways to spruce up the dishes that you prepare to lessen the chances you’ll “cheat” and to increase the likelihood that you’ll view your diet as a complete lifestyle change, rather than a temporary denial. Use dried herbs, spices, and extras like lemon juice to give foods more flavor without adding empty calories.

Instead of depriving yourself of all of your favorite foods, reward yourself at the end of the week with a reasonable portion of one of your favorite things to eat. Many dieters feel that deprivation will only lead to desperation, and this small weekly treat lessens the chance of cheating or overindulging.

Eat a serving of dry roasted peanuts with reduced salt for a healthy snack. Dip apple slices or a banana into peanut butter for a delicious treat that will curb your hunger, but not cause weight gain.

Rather than going it alone, inform your friends and family of your goals and let them know that you’ll be needing their support. Find a buddy to exercise with, and share your dieting tips as well as goals. Many people find that it’s helpful to tell others about their quest, not only for the additional support, but because it gives them an extra incentive to reach their goal.

Exercise tips

Too tired to exercise? Drink a cup of coffee, green tea, or diet soda to give yourself that boost of energy you need to complete your workout. Caffeine may also help to temporarily increase metabolism, allowing you to burn even more calories as you exercise.

Mix up your exercise routine by adding some interval training. While walking, speed up the pace for a few minutes, and then slow it down again. If you happen to be walking farther than a mile or so, alternate with a run-walk in addition to some arm movements. Or consider using some ankle weights to help strengthen the muscles in the legs.

If you’re planning to buy an exercise video to follow along with, be sure to select something that includes activities that you’re already able to do and feel comfortable with. Popular aerobic exercises include stair stepping, dancing, or sports-based activities. If you’re a beginner, look for one that is considered low-impact to minimize the risk of injury.

Dancing is great for weight loss as it gets your heart pumping, your toes tapping, and also elevates your mood. If you like variety, look for a video that contains cross-training, which offers more than one type of exercise.

It’s common for dieters to hit a plateau, however, this temporary stall in weight loss can discourage even the strongest willed, and can cause some people to stop exercising altogether. By stepping up your exercise routine and increasing your level of physical activity you’ll give your body that extra push it needs to get itself back into the muscle-building, fat-burning mode.

Besides ending the frustrating plateau, an increase in exercise will also help you sleep better. Just be sure to finish your workout at least three hours before bedtime to ward off sleeplessness.

Weight Loss Supplements

I am personally an overweight person, I am 205 pounds when I should be about 175 pounds. I have tried many name brand “clinically proven” diet pills and programs and have not had any good results from any of them. Most pills just cut your water weight without ever actually helping you when your main problem is – too much fat. The other products I have tried made me so sick to my stomach that I was just throwing up- so yea I guess they could work for getting you to lose weight, just not a safe way!

I’ll admit, working out is probably the best way to cut fatty weight down, but let’s face it; a lot of us just don’t have the time for it. America has the highest percentage of overweight people then any other country in the world. Why are we also so overweight? The main reason is because Americans work so hard, most people don’t get to work that nice 40 hour week and are caught up at work for 60+ hours a week. I myself am always kept late at the office and by the time I get home all I want to do is relax.

The fat pill that I have found to be most successful is Proactol. Proactol is as the other are- “clinically proven” but for the 1st time out of all of the pills I took, this one actually has started to work. I haven’t lost any significant weight yet but the results are very positive, about 5 pound within the last 2 weeks of taking proactol. Proactol is a clinically proven "fat binder". It absorbs the fat in foods and allows it to be passed directly through the body therefore avoiding the harmful build up of fatty deposits.

So for those of us who are too busy to work out every day and weight loss supplements are the best option, I would check out Proactol and see for yourself how nice the results can be.

You can read more about Proactol at a weight loss blog that I subscribed to- http://dropthefat.org/?p=4 This is where I originally found out about proactol.

Will A Weight Loss Diet Pill Help?

We are all familiar with the ads; in fact, it would be difficult to go for an entire 24 hour period without seeing an ad for a weight loss diet pill. They come in a variety of shapes and colors, with some celebrity endorsements, complete with all the promises you want to hear. But, do they really help with weight loss? And, if they do, are they worth the potential side effects?

When comparing the many available types of oral weight loss support, it becomes immediately apparent that one of the main components is caffeine. Why? Caffeine helps to provide you with an extra source of energy that you may previously have obtained through snacking. While this may prove harmless and somewhat effective for some people, others might suffer increased anxiety, nervousness, and/or a feeling of irritability. The logic here is simple, if you may be caffeine sensitive and find that after using a supplemental pill for weight loss that you fall into the negative side effect category - pass on the pills!

Another common component of these oral supplements is their appetite suppression properties. Various combinations of natural, and not so natural, ingredients are used to reduce your desire to eat. Some people will find themselves with a sensitivity to these ingredients and experience a range of side effects. Cramping, headache, or nausea are very commonly experienced when taking a weight loss diet pill. If you're taking these pills and your side effects are anything more than minor and temporary - stop using the pills!

When it comes to supplementing your diet with any type of weight loss pill, the smartest thing you should do before starting is to consult with your physician. Your physician will advise you as to whether or not you even need this type of supplement. Your answer to weight loss may be as simple as a change in your dietary habits, or getting a little more exercise. Also, your physician is more familiar with your overall health than anyone else, and will provide you with professional advice regarding any over-the-counter weight loss product that may help you with dropping some pounds, and more importantly; point out any product or product ingredient that could create problems for you. When it comes to safe and healthy weight loss, the advice of your primary care physician is priceless.

If this course of action is approved for you, the good news is that the safe use of oral weight loss products can help many people curb their appetites while providing a little extra energy to help your body adjust to the the changes in your eating habits. Report any sign of side effects to your physician, take the weight loss diet pills as directed, and you should be fine.

How to deal with sticky Thai girls

Whether nice girls or bar girls, limpet-like Thai women are easy to meet but hard to shake off and they always try to push the relationship too quickly. Sometimes, they act like a jealous wife after a single date. Thais describe this behaviour as sticky.

When a guy shags a bar girl and waves goodbye, he might assume that the matter is finished but it never is. Later, when she sees him with another girl, there could be an ugly scene. This is pretty rich, considering how many guys she's knocking around with.

Nice girls don't sell their bodies but their behaviour is similar in some respects. A friend of mine recently dated an office girl who he met on the internet. Respectable Thai women are supposed to value their virginity, so he was quite surprised at her eagerness to jump into bed on the first date. When they did the deed, however, it was all a bit perfunctory. The following day, she flew into a rage when he wouldn't discuss marriage. Sensibly, he dumped her - by text message.

Acne Skin Care Treatment Product

Although many people believed that acne is caused because a person's skin is too oily, those with dry skin are just as susceptible to the condition as well. Today more than 20% of all adults are affected by acne and this can often be caused by using very harsh products on their skin. However there are certain acne skin care treatment products that can further cause a person's skin to dry out and only exacerbate their acne even further.

Certainly the best way to treat any form of acne is through prevention. It is important that a person chooses a skin care treatment product which will not dry their skin out or cause any further damage to it. However it does not matter what type of skin you have as long as you understand what actually causes it, then you will find it much easier to prevent as well as treat your acne problem.

Most of the skin care treatments available for acne are likely to make the underlying causes of the problem much worse. Many of these actually contain sulfur or resorcinol or benzyl peroxide and these all help to dry up the excess oil that is being produced by a person's sebaceous glands but can also cause a person's skin to dry out more during the actual treatment process. Therefore although it may have prevented further oil from being produced it will cause the skin to dry out and this will then exacerbate the skin condition further. In fact what you have done is actually caused yourself another problem because your fine lines and wrinkles will begin to develop and so you have actually accelerated the process of aging in your skin. So it may be better to just blot the excess oil as it certainly will not cause the condition to become any worse.

To be honest if many people used less of these cleansing and skin products the incidents of acne would probably be much less. Instead people should look at using mild skin products as these will not damage their skin and understand their skin condition a little better. Understanding your skin and acne condition will help you determine the type of acne skin care treatment product to use.

The First Step to Weight Loss

Do you think you need to lose weight? If so, by mere thinking of losing weight will not help much. What you need is action. Now where to begin action is a primary question. You just cannot randomly get hold of any weight loss product or program that comes to your mind, or take some advice your friends or relatives offer on the basis of their experience, however good their intentions are or however successful their experience has been. That advice may or may not be suitable for you. It may or may not work in your case despite the successes that they or others have had.

There are numerous programs or products for weight loss. There is a huge variety of temptations to adopt a quick-fix solution to your weight problem. Occupying a very prominent place among most of these is diet. Food, as you know very well, was the culprit that increased your weight in the first place. You realize you have indulged in overeating, or in eating the wrong type of food, long enough to be loaded with excess fat in the body, resulting in being overweight. You know you have a craving for sugar-rich ice creams and other sweets, foods replete with fats and oils, fast food, processed food and such things. You also know you have the habit of munching some or the other junk food all the time. Controlling or curbing this craving, this habit of overeating or eating food that you like but is not good for your weight is difficult, of course, but not impossible, if you try hard enough.

You may have heard of several diets that help weight loss. Low-fat diets, low-calorie diets, low-carb diets, formula diets recommended by expert dieticians and doctors specializing in nutrition and weight loss, negative-calorie diets and so on have flooded the market. These are supposed to have the backing of scientific studies and successful experiences of others. Then there are herbal and chemical dietary supplements, which have appetite-suppressing qualities. When you consume them in the recommended doses, they reduce or stifle your craving for food, and as a result, you eat less than usual. Thereby you lose weight. That sounds very good in theory. However, one would wish it to be as simple as it appears.

Not that there is no truth at all in the case for the right diet. What is important is you have to find out what works for you. You have to decide perhaps to change your eating habits. You may have to eat what you need to eat for weight loss rather than eat what you want to eat because of your innate liking for certain types of food.

Although food is a very important factor in weight loss, there are other things like regular physical exercise and activity-filled life that contribute equally well to achieving your ideal weight. For this, you may have to bring about lifestyle changes and stick to them on a consistent basis.

Your very first step towards losing your weight is, therefore, to consult your health care professional about the right diet, the right exercise, the lifestyle changes you have to make and, once you get the right advice that suits you, follow it with an iron-clad determination and commitment.

Help to Reduce Belly Fat

Can You Lose Weight Where You Want?

If you have excess weight only in specific parts of your body, you still must look at yourself as a whole. It's not possible to spot reduce; in other words, you can't dictate that you only want weight to come off one place or another. In most cases your so called "trouble spots" is where the fat will come off last, so be prepared to lose weight in your fingers (rings fall off) and your face (friends may ask if you're feeling all right) first. There is hope for losing that belly fat though.

Work Toward Building Muscle and Reducing Body Fat

If you work toward building muscle and reducing body fat you will eventually tackle those trouble spots though, and develop a better physique in the process. Muscle tissue is active meaning it requires calories to be maintained. If you were stranded without a food supply, eventually your body would turn to its own muscle tissue as a source of nutrition first (muscles are protein) while saving the fat stores for last. Simply put, fat is nature's way of ensuring survival during times of famine. That's why the prevalence of heart failure kills someone who is severely malnourished. By building more muscle you become a more efficient energy burning machine which translates to mean you can eat more food! That to me is a good thing.

The More Active You Are, The More You Get to Eat!

That explains why some people can eat so much more than others yet not gain weight; your efficient energy burning friend simply has a greater proportion of muscle to fat than you. Muscle is more dense than fat. It's often said that a pound of muscle is heavier than a pound of fat, but the truth is a pound is a pound. What they mean is a one pound volume of muscle is a smaller package than a one pound volume of fat, or put another way, fat is billowy and fluffy while muscle is sleek and compact. Lady No. 1 weighs 120 pounds with 30% body fat so she has 84 pounds of lean tissue and 36 pounds of fat, while Lady No. 2 also weighing 120 pounds but at 18% body fat is carrying roughly 98 pounds of muscle and 22 pounds of fat. Would you rather be Lady No. 1 or Lady No. 2? Which do you think takes up more space, 22 or 36 pounds of fat? I'd say 36 pounds of fat would be a lot bigger package than 22 pounds.

Low Fat Diets May Not Reduce Risk of Heart Disease

For years we've heard that to protect yourself from heart disease you should follow a "low fat" diet. Even many hospitals and health professionals still stick to this rule of low fat diets at the risk of omitting heart healthy foods. New research from the Women's Health Initiative dietary modification trial published in the February 8th issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association reported their findings of an 8-year follow up study. One of the reports showed that postmenopausal women who followed a low fat (20% of calories from fat) diet did not have a lower risk of heart disease. This makes things confusing since we have been taught for years that low fat equals better heart health. The two go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. Before we all ditch the low fat model and rush to eat our favorite high fat fare there are a few more pieces to this puzzle to know.

This study did have some limitations. First of all, they were depending on self-reporting from the participants for an 8 year process. This of course leads room for discrepancies since we all eat on auto pilot most of the time. It would be hard to say you followed a strict low fat diet for 8 years without writing down what you ate every day. Also they didn't take into account other lifestyle factors such as exercise or stress management. All can contribute to the risk level of heart disease. Not only that, some of the authors disclosed they had their hands in the pharmaceutical cookie jar…another article for another time.

Limitations or no limitations the study still shows that postmenopausal women who likely were following a fairly low fat diet still were shown not to improve their heart health. This actually doesn't surprise me in the least. The old general low fat diet is no longer the most effective heart healthy diet. A matter of fact, some fats are shown to protect our heart.

So let's get down to the details. There are fats that are protective and fats that are shown to increase risk. Decreasing certain fats is still a good rule of thumb. These fats are saturated fats which are found in animal products, coconut and palm kernel oil. So sticking with lean meats such as poultry and fish, and choosing low fat dairy products is still a good choice. The second fat to decrease is Trans Fats which are found in many packaged convenience foods including certain margarines, crackers, and chips. Trans Fats are now located on the nutrition label under "Fats".

Now, just because a food is high in fat or all fat doesn't mean it will put us at risk of heart disease. For example fats found in nuts, olive oil, canola oil, avocados, flax seeds, and fish oils have been found to be protective for the heart by helping to lower cholesterol and decrease inflammation. This wouldn't go along with the old rule of the low fat diet. In fact, just last year one of the hospitals in my local area was still telling people they couldn't have natural peanut butter or avocados on their heart healthy diet. It's time to update those handouts with new research. This doesn't mean more is better either. There is a proper balance of adding healthy fats to the diet, around 30% of calories from fat.

A Heart Healthy diet is not just about the fats. There are all kinds of foods that you can add that help lower cholesterol and protect your heart by providing powerful antioxidants. For example, blueberries are one power player for heart health by providing antioxidants and research supports that it can lower cholesterol. All from a tiny, little, round fruit. Simply adding oatmeal every day or adding a little honey to your tea can help lower cholesterol. There are many foods we can add for heart health and they pack a serious punch.

The last thing to note on this study is that we are looking at a very general look into low fat diets. Unfortunately, one size doesn't fit all. One person may have family history of heart disease which may put them at greater risk. Another person may want to lose some weight along with lowering cholesterol. This person may need to follow a little lower fat than the other since fat does carry a lot of calories. Everyone is different and while general health guidelines are important, if you are someone who needs more detailed information then seek some help from a professional that can give you an individualized plan.

Life of a girl in university

Text by a Thai girl

Hi everybody! I am a Thai girl student!

I am a fourth years student at the biggest university in Udonthani. I am living with my two friends at a dormitory in Udonthani city while I am studying here. I think that I like this time of my life very much. It is wonderful because I don't have to work. I just spend my time studying and "playing".

Money is not a big problem, because I have a little money to spend all the time. When my money is finished I just go back to my home and ask for some from my parents and then they can give me the money I want. I think that I am very lucky. More lucky than some of my friends that have to work for getting some money to pay for school. Some of them have to work at pubs or bars in night time or their free time. They don't have time to sleep and read their books or do their homework. Sometimes, they could not come to class or maybe they come too late. I could see that their scores also are lower. I know they could not choose to do it in a other way. Their life are different from mine. I have a easier life. I don't have to struggle that much.

In my free time, I always go to the internet cafe and shopping mall just for spending time and for fun. I know I should read and go to the library but I don't always do that. Actually, I don't go to the library to read unless it is absolutely necessary. On my night time after I was finished my homework I would spend most of my time to talk to my friends and listen to music. Sometimes my friends and I would go out to drink and dance that to relax. Now, I am going to graduate. I realize that I haven't done my duty as a student good enough. If I could travel back in time, I would like to be a little better child for my parents.

I will not follow my friends and the modern life style so much. Yes, modern life style is good for development our country because it is great for technology but it makes Thai culture changing to the worse. I think that the modern life makes people more selfish and lazy. The family is getting less important and worst of all; it makes children not respecting older people like before.

Yes, traditional life style makes the development of Thai country slow but I think that Thailand will still develop even with traditional lifestyle. So, everything has a good and a bad side. It is up to every person to choose.

Well, this is my opinion about traditional and modern life. What is your opinion? I would like you to think a little about this. Maybe you are thinking in a different way. Everyone have right to have different views. But to share opinions with each other, that is a good way.

Well, thank you for reading.
